Due to the widely known news that sugar is bad for you, people now think that anything “sweet” means it is unhealthy and bad for your body. But this isn’t always the case!! Yes, refined sugar is most definitely harmful to your health. Nature has provided us with so many amazing natural sugars one being honey!! * Caution: babies under 1 year old should not consume raw honey *
The benefits of honey are so powerful and a great way to protect your body. When using honey always use raw organic honey so you can reap all the benefits!
Benefits of honey:
- Boosts your immune system- it is loaded with vitamins, minerals and enzymes which help boost the immune system and protect the body from bacteria
- Improves sleep and relaxation- similar to how you feel after eating turkey, the sugar found in honey raises our insulin slightly and allows for tryptophan to enter our brains much easier
- Healed wounds- honey has antibacterial properties, which fight and prevent infection. Dab a small amount of honey over a cut and cover with a bandage
- Reduces the risk of heart disease- honey mixed with cinnamon has been shown to revitalize the arteries and veins of the heart and reduce cholesterol
- Soothes indigestion- the antiseptic properties of honey relieve acidity in the stomach
- Increases energy levels
- Clears up skin- its anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties are great for clearing up skin. Dap a small amount on to blemishes overnight and wash off in the morning
There are many different ways I enjoy fitting honey into my diet:
– Add 1-2 tablespoons of honey with 1/3 teaspoon of cinnamon to warm water
– I also like to add 1 tablespoon of honey to my morning lemon water before breakfast
Honey is one of Mother Nature’s all-natural sweeteners and versatile foods that is so helpful in supporting a healthy body. No wonder honey has been so popular for thousands of years!
