Well we are officially into the New Year….have you stuck with your resolutions?? From my experience what usually happens is people make big goals/resolutions at the end of December. Then come the first of January they are burnt out from all the holiday festivities. That being said what I do is give myself a week’s grace period…this allows me to get things back in order from the holidays; clean, stock up on healthy foods and regain some order back in my life.

You will notice in the next month or so there will be less weight loss commercials on tv…..the gym will die down….there is no longer a line up at your local juice bar. So then why is it that year after year people set themselves up for failure with these HUGE resolutions and lists that could go on for days?? Let’s work with baby steps that are attainable year-round. And no it’s not too late to start! The year is still fresh so let’s do this! Little changes show big results. Here is a list of attainable goals for the New Year; these are just some suggestions to lead you to a healthier lifestyle. Don’t feel overwhelmed that you have to follow them all; any of these positive lifestyle changes are good changes!

  1. Drink more water- aim for 2-3L of filtered water per/day
  2. Get more sleep- 7-8 hours is key for your health
  3. Try something new- whether this be a gym class or a book club etc
  4. Exercise more- get moving! Add weights into your training routine, trust me you will see a difference!
  5. Cook a new healthy dish every week
  6. Eat your greens!
  7. Plan ahead- start the year off organized with a clear head. Use Sundays to plan and prep for the week, this makes the world of a differenceIts not too late

Last but not least, start small. Not everything has to happen at once. Be kind to yourself and take some time to relax!!

In good health,
