The Travelling Nutritionist:
Welcome to my health and nutrition + lifestyle blog- thanks so much for visiting! My name is Jamie-Lynn Shaw and I am a nutrition and fitness junkie; I love everything about it. It’s my hope that this blog helps you learn about nutrition, fitness and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. On top of health and nutrition, I like sharing day-to-day lifestyle tips. My motto is anything that excites you leads to improved health in some way! This can be fitness, fashion, beauty etc. I am still learning every day, so join me on this exciting journey!

My Story:
To help you get to know me a little better on a personal level I am going to tell you a bit about my story.
I was born and raised in a very small town, which is still my favourite place to be and where I will always call home!! My family is everything to me, and I love spending time with them. My husband and I got married in July 2015, which was such an amazing day! We couldn’t be happier. We have a wonderful golden retriever named Ralph who you will be seeing lots of pictures of. He is seriously the best dog!
Besides nutrition, fitness and my family, I love fashion!! I’ve always been a follower of healthy lifestyle habits, but when I finally found something that interested me more than clothes – the study of nutrition – I knew I had found my calling! This is not to say I have lost interest in fashion…I will still be sharing lots of that on the blog, don’t worry!
I am very active; I have always played many sports and enjoy working out as well as yoga. I – in my unbiased opinion of course – I have the best friends and family in the world, so when I am not working on nutrition I am spending time with them!
Now for the big question: why the “travelling nutritionist”?? This may seem pretty self-explanatory as I tend to travel a lot….but why??
My wonderful husband Adam is a professional hockey player, 2013 was his first professional year. I graduated in 2013 as well, so I decided this would be a great opportunity to go with Adam and live somewhere different and experience something new. This was the perfect opportunity to start an online business, which allows me to work from anywhere.
We started off the year in Charlotte, North Carolina- such a beautiful city!! We loved it there; we just got settled in our new apartment and got our puppy, Ralph. We were expecting to be in Charlotte until coming back home to Canada for the summer.
After being in Charlotte for 3 short months Adam then got traded and that is when the travelling began! So no… I was not expecting to become a “travelling nutritionist”, but it sure became a busy life for the next few months. After the first trade, we ended up moving 5 times and being in 4 cities in 6 months. So to say it was a busy year of travelling is an understatement.
Despite having to pick up and move with short notice more than once, we made the best of it! We were able to see a lot of places neither of us has seen before, and even do some extra travelling during time off. Of course, this was an amazing experience, but there were also some downfalls. I found it very hard moving and getting to know the lay of the land in a new city…. the healthy restaurants, grocery stores, gyms etc… and then having to move to a new city and do the same thing over again. It was also very stressing on our bodies, so we had to work hard to stay healthy!
Every city was different but we did our best to stay healthy and on track throughout the chaos- that was a lot of work in itself! Luckily for my husband, I am a nutritionist or I think he may have resorted to restaurant eating for the entire season!!
That being said, I am going to be using this blog as a place to share my experience with you! Tips on how to stay healthy while travelling, how to reduce stress and build immunity. I am going to share travelling tips but also much more about health and overall wellness and lifestyle. Both my education and experience have expanded my knowledge in this field and nothing excites me more!
Since the start of my husbands’ career in 2013, we have been many many more places, which I will list below! In the off-season, we spend our time back home in Pembroke with our family and friends. Where we will be going in the fall is still a question but I will be sure to keep you posted!
I can’t wait to share my experiences and knowledge with you. I also would love to hear from you all so please leave your comments and questions below! You can also connect with me via social media on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!
